Following news of a new Defiance expansion coming next week, Polygon inquired what would happen to the MMORPG if the SyFy tie-in series was cancelled, learning that the game will soldier on even if this happens. "We were standing alone for nine months after the first season of the show ended," says lead designer, Trick Dempsey. "We do really have a stunning following. Defiance has its own legs and runs on its own really well." He goes on to discuss specifics about season two, and expresses confidence that the game will continue past that. "We would definitely survive if there were no season three," Dempsey said. "But I would be much happier if there were."
