In the words of President Bill Pullman, "Today we celebrate our Independence Day!" Yup, it was just 238 years ago that we broke up with Great Britain (it's not you, it's us), before becoming BFFs again. Celebrations will include cookouts, fireworks, and in these parts rain, so we'll see how that turns out. The Gunnar-man is not nearly as bothered by fireworks as was our dear-departed Hudson the wonder dog, so this will be the first time in well over a decade that the explosions won't be a huge problem for us... something I still haven't gotten used to (it may be another Fourth or two to get to the point where they stop making me flinch in sympathy). So happy Independence Day to those who are celebrating, and please be careful with fireworks, alcohol, driving, and any possible combinations of the three.
