GameInformer - Are Video Games In Danger Of Losing Their Trademarks?
And while there aren't necessarily a ton of games with offensive titles, there are potentially some with offensive content within the game. Should they and their companies be at risk of losing their trademarks? Obviously I can't speak on behalf of the video game industry but my observation is we tend to value our creative freedom and expression, and push back on censorship. But what would happen if the government received a number of complaints speaking out against a video game that was offensive towards a group of people based on their race, gender, sexual preference, religion or any other characteristic...and unilaterally decided to yank the trademark and associated protections guaranteed by the trademark?
