As I mentioned last night, we had a funeral to attend yesterday, as my aunt died this week after a rough bout with cancer. I don't get to see my uncle and cousins much these days, but I still feel very close to them, and it was an emotional time being together under such circumstances. It did provide a nice opportunity to spend time with my cousins' kids (I think this makes them my "first cousins, once removed"), many of whom are basically grownups (three of my cousins are a half-generation older than I am, since my uncle is nine years older than my dad was). If nothing else, this serves as a stark reminder that we should keep in touch better to prevent funerals from being the only time we get together.
