Polygon - Snobbery and fear drive criticisms of free-to-play games and
ethics. After seven years in the "traditional" industry, I've spent eight years
building free-to-play projects, so I'm especially sensitive to and
interested in these criticisms. The attacks and criticism of free-to-play
mechanics are often unfair and selective, and leave questionable but
traditional business practices alone.
This is snobbery; evidence that the old guard is scared of where the
industry is headed.
