Talk about unplanned good timing. Following the conclusion of season three of
Game of Thrones, I gave in to temptation and started reading the books. Based on
my own preferences, my idea was to read up to the point that the show has
covered, but since this is half-way through book three, there was not going to
be a definitive moment to put the books aside. As it turns out, I worked this
perfectly, as with the premiere of season four a couple of weeks away, I am
right about where the show left off, somewhere between (avoiding spoilers)
Jaime's "incident" and the Red Wedding, so it may just work out that I can
continue reading along through the season, so sometimes things just work out. As
for why I'd rather watch first, it's simply that I find if I read something
first I only really enjoy the book, whereas if I read the book after watching a
show or movie, I can enjoy them both.
