The new
GFK Chart-Track PC sales chart shows South
Park: The Stick of Truth
was the number one selling PC game in the U.K. for the week ending March 8th.
Obsidian's new South ark action/RPG is also number one on the
all platforms/all prices chart. Here's the write-up of this week's results:
‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ hands Ubisoft their first All Formats
No1 of 2014, stealing top spot from Square’s ‘Thief’ (-48%), which has to settle
for No2.
53% of South Park sales were on Xbox 360, 41% on PS3 and 6% on PC. It’s the
first RPG to debut at No1 since ‘Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch’ back in
W5 2013. Along with ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ it is the only Top 10 title
this week not to have been released on a current-gen format (PS4/Xbox One). All
Top 10 titles drop sales this week, but sales of ‘Plants Vs Zombies: Garden
Warfare’ only slip by 1%, pushing it from No4 to No3 in its second week of
release. Lego is still well represented in the All Formats Top 40 with 5 titles,
headed by ‘the Lego Movie Videogame’ (-31%) down 2 places to No4 and ‘Lego
Marvel Super Heroes’ (-24%), also down 2 places to No9. ‘FIFA 14’ (-21%) drops 2
places to No5, but hasn’t ever been outside the Top 5 since it was released 24
weeks ago.
‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ (-23%) is not so lucky, falling outside the Top 5 for the
first time, down from No5 to No6. ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (-3%) is up one
place to No7, ahead of ‘Battlefield 4’ (-29%) at No8. ‘Assassin’s Creed IV:
Black Flag’ (-16%) hasn’t ever fallen outside the Top 10 and manages to hang on
this week despite a drop from No9 to No10. The only other new release to make
the All Formats Top 40 is Bandai Namco’s ‘Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures’
which debuts at No21.
