Out of the Blue

Didn't catch any of the Academy Awards last night, but I'm pretty happy for Matthew McConaughey for his win, as I've always enjoyed his work. What I think is weird is how many of the stories about his Oscar prospects mentioned his weight loss for the role, and the fine job he's doing on True Detective, in fact I'm pretty sure every story about him mentioned both. This says to me we should add a couple of new awards to the mix that will help the voters focus on acting by honoring their other priorities. I'm thinking they should hand out annual awards for Best Transformation (McConaughey, Theron, Hanks, DeNiro) and for Best Other Work We Failed to Honor (Scorcese, Hitchcock), to clear the field of these sort of distractions.
