Dreamcast Launch Details

In a press conference this morning, Sega's Bernie Stolar made an announcement about the launch of their new system, the Dreamcast. With its Microsoft OS, modem, PowerVR graphics chip and Internet access, it resembles a mini-PC more than any console to date. According to Stolar, the system will retail for $199, and will launch with ten to twelve titles at launch (including the impressive Sonic Adventure, Sega Rally 2, and Virtua Fighter TB). No specifics were given about their Internet strategy, although he did say that details will be given at E3. The Dreamcast is set to launch stateside on September 9th (yes, that's 9/9/99). Games of note in development include MDK2, and a Dreamcast version of Unreal.
