Our horribly overgrown backyard situation came to a head yesterday when I outfitted myself with a weed whacker and took to whacking weeds out there. We have an electric trimmer, but whenever I try to use it, I end up like one of those "as seen on TV" ads with the string all tangled around everything. This made the obvious solution to get an "as seen on TV" head, which also required getting a gas trimmer, as the electric guys don't have the horsepower to drive all that extra inertia. Properly outfitted, the gimmicky head certainly works, and I managed to get close to half the yard done in pretty short order, and should be able to finish it today. I do hate how those little motors churn out so much pollution, but I got a trimmer with a four-stroke engine, so at least its not nearly as smoky and noisy as one of those two-stroke jobbies.
