The awesomely named Ocean Quigley took to Twitter to announce his departure from Maxis, where he served as creative director and art director for the new SimCity. He announces he's forming a new development studio called Jellygrade with two more Maxis veterans, Andrew Willmott (previously engineering lead on SimCity, Spore, and The Sims) and Dan Moskowitz (previously lead gameplay engineer at Maxis/EA). He says he still has a lot of affection for Maxis, which was a good studio to work for, but that "after SimCity 3k, SimCity 4, the Sims, the Sims2, Spore & the new SimCity, it was time for something new." He says they hope to make PC games, but their first project is a tablet game he describes like so: "We're making a simulation about the dawn of life on earth; about lava, water, rock and the emergence of the first primordial creatures."
