When we all first heard about new "six strikes" plans being used by ISPs to identify copyright infringers, we all agreed it seemed like a perfect and foolproof system, but it seems our optimism may have been unfounded. Techdirt reports a reader getting a DMCA takedown notice saying he was infringing on some TV shows, claiming he was in fact distributing a Guild Wars 2 modification. All snarkiness aside, it's not clear how commonplace this is (trusting the report is accurate), or if it is an unusual error, but it certainly highlights concerns some have expressed all along about such a scheme. Thanks Ant via DSLReports.
