Following word that 38 Studios' loan payment check bounced, Joystiq has word the studio has successfully made its required $1.125 million payment to Rhode Island. "It's time for them to go out and get private capital funding," Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee said. "That's the deal. It's a generous deal, but stick to it." Word is their next payment is $2.6 million due on November 1st. Joystiq also reports that Chafee offered the 38 Studios-related press conference offered what he believes is the release date for Project Copernicus, 38 Studios' upcoming MMORPG. "What I understand is Copernicus is June of '13," he said. Formal or not, as far as we know this is the first game release date of any sort announced by an elected official.
