DJ2 Entertainment has optioned the film rights to Adhesive Games' upcoming mech combat game Hawken, according to a Reuters report. The game is being developed independently by a five person team, and indie production company DJ2 has only been around for a couple of months, but: "Big names were chasing this," says DJ2's Dmitri M. Johnson. "A-list directors and big hit agencies." The story describes the game's plot as Romeo & Juliet meets District 9, and offers the following synopsis: "it follows two young pilots from separate clans pitted against one another after a devastating virus has covered most of the heavily industrialized planet surface in toxic crystal." As for the game itself, the developers promise a new gameplay trailer tomorrow from PAX, according to this tweet.
