GameFly's Direct2Drive Buy Confirmed, PC Game Rentals Possible?

Shacknews has a confirmation of the report that Direct2Drive is being sold to Shacknews parent company GameFly. Word is they will be investigating Windows game rentals, as they offer this quote from GameFly CEO Dave Hodess: "We know that consumers are interested in PC game rentals, so we will investigate this idea thoroughly."
