Intel Drops Project Offset

Big Download has the update on the status of Project Offset that Intel promised they would make this year, and the status is, the project has been cancelled. Intel acquired Offset Software in 2008, hoping Offset's flagship project, a first-person shooter named Project Offset, would show off Intel's Larrabee GPU with its advanced graphics, at least until Larrabee was killed off late last year. Object Software was formed in 2005 by Sam McGrath and other former employees of S2 Games, and word is McGrath has already formed Fractiv LLC. The new company is shrouded in mystery for the moment, so there is no word yet on what they are up to, or if they have managed to retain the Project Offset IP.
