Attempts to hijack online game logins via malware are on the rise according to Microsoft, reports BBC News. Cliff Evans, head of security at Microsoft UK, describes strong growth in a family of malicious programs known as Taterf, saying infections were up 156% in the first half of 2009 compared with the last six months of 2008. The article also describes the impact of stolen accounts on things like gold sales, and outlines the common sense to be used in avoiding have your own account hijacked. Thanks Mike Martinez via Digg.
