Electronic Arts has filed two trademark registrations for "The Ripper" (here's
one
and
the other). This is noted on
superannuation, where they also note an
LA Times blog post from a while back with more on this, as it says:
"Although [the EA spokeswoman] declined to elaborate, two sources close to EA
told The Times that Visceral’s next game would be Jack the Ripper, based on the
19th century British serial killer. It’s not clear what the game would involve,
but it’s a natural follow-up of sorts to Dante’s Inferno, which is also based on
copyright-free historical material."
superannuation
also notes
Remedy's new trademark registration for Death Rally, pointing out that it is
for "computer game software, and any printed instructions or printed hint
manuals sold therewith as a unit," suggesting a digital release, and that
Jordan
Mechner has filed a trademark registration for Prince of Persia: The
Forgotten Sands.
