Gamasutra
reports that World of Warcraft has resumed commercial operations in China
after a hiatus caused by the change in operators from The9 to NetEase as well as
edits to some content, and the game has been operating
for a while in beta form. They add some interesting notes to
this, including the estimate that NetEase has been spending close to $150,000
USD per day operating the beta, and that Chinese players represent almost
half the game's 11.5 million player population, but only 6% of the game's
revenue.
