This press release from Samsung announces plans to market their 256 GB solid
state drive (SSD) specifically to gamers, touting the obvious benefit of
"reduced loading times" as well as the questionable claim of "faster game
performance." The included quote from Jon Peddie of Jon Peddie Research explains
why Samsung wants you to want SSD: "The PC gaming market continues to evolve
into a more mainstream segment, and should reach $30.7 billion by the end of
2012." Word is Samsung plans on showing SSD-enabled game stations at the World
Cyber Games (WCG) in the United States so we what this is all about can see for
ourselves: "Samsung will encourage participants to experience the SSD game
stations at the U.S. National Finals, taking place Sept. 25 – 27 at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center in New York City."
