GUILLEMOT AND FALCON NORTHWEST RELEASE THE WORLD'S FASTEST 3D GAMING GRAPHICS BOARD The New Falcon Northwest Special Edition Xentor
Montreal, August 5, 1999- In a joint R&D effort, Guillemot and Falcon Northwest have created the fastest gaming solution for hardcore gamers. Guillemot's award-winning Xentor 32 has been re-designed to take full advantage of the latest technology and precision engineering of Falcon Northwest's award winning gaming PC systems. Gamers can now place their orders for the first offering from the Falcon Northwest Special Edition series, which will begin shipping during the second week of August.
"We are proud to continue our tradition of leading performance with this special edition designed exclusively for the most demanding of gamers," says Dave Peterson, Business Development Manager for Guillemot. "This is a partnership of two companies dedicated to providing the pinnacle of performance in PC gaming. Working with Falcon to re-engineer the Maxi Gamer Xentor 32, which is already one of the fastest performers and all-around best values on the market, was a challenge we couldn't resist."
"Our clientele are the world's most dedicated gamers, and the Falcon Northwest Special Edition Series is their reward for that dedication." said Kelt Reeves, President of Falcon Northwest. "Guillemot was the only graphics board manufacturer brave enough to take on our insane wish list of features we'd like to see in a graphics board. I'm pleased to say they exceeded our wildest expectations."
Features In addition to the multitude of features offered by the Maxi Gamer Xentor 32, the Falcon SE Xentor will also include: * The fastest 3D chip clock to date - NVIDIA's RIVA TNT2(tm) chipset running at a minimum of 195 MHz core chip speed. * The fastest RAM ever used on a graphics card - 32 MB of 4.3-nanosecond video RAM running at a minimum of 235 MHz memory clock. * True AGP 4X compatibility - no need to upgrade or modify your settings to take advantage of this innovative feature on upcoming motherboards.
* Advanced cooling - a custom fan on the core chip and individual heatsinks for every memory chip pair.
* Smart power management - the cooling fan runs directly off the power supply to allow more processing power for the graphics engine.
Software Bundle The Falcon SE Xentor will ship with a special edition of Interplay's 32-bit color title Kingpin: Life of Crime(tm) dubbed On the Street(tm), which includes the first 7 levels plus multiplayer capabilities. A special overclocking utility will also be provided for power users who wish to push the limits of their high-performance systems. Pricing and availability The Falcon SE Xentor will sell for $349, with a $30 discount to existing Falcon Northwest customers, or to new customers purchasing their card in a new Falcon system. The card should begin shipping the second week of August, and preorders can be placed now. However, the availability of these ultra-fast parts will be very limited. First priority will be given to new Falcon customers and to those who are upgrading older Falcon systems. Excess quantities are expected in very small numbers and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the custom design for Falcon systems, compatibility with other PC systems cannot be guaranteed.
