I think both of these guys should just avoid servers running the anti-camper patch:

Press Peoples,

Project yellow is simply more than par for the course, it's a total handicap for clean fun. In your experience and mine encountering servers populated with a myriad of players who are not always keen to be either friendly or easy going is a daily occurrence.

Voting someone a "camper" has endless possibilities for abuse. Even with recent enhancements to the patch the potential to allow demonstrative server administrators and even the adverse Rules Nazi to vote someone a camper, force them from a server, and depopulate the server remains. But these tertiary hypotheticals only touch the surface. Why is it necessary to once again perpetuate the camping debate this time introducing it into Quake 2?

As the leader of a site which actively supports the freedom to choose how one will play, to camp or not to camp, one must ask what the driving force behind the creation of such a patch is? Is this really necessary? Is it within the community's interest to force this mind set into the sphere of Quake 2 as well?  Are we to believe that simple, lonely and inferior campers are such a threat to good players that they must be identified rather than evicted from their campsite? Are we to believe that in the end the arguments for other abuses such a lpb raiders, type hogs, whiners, and other llamas take backstage to the inferior camper?

I don't usually send Email to many websites because I know how busy you all can get but, I saw something tonight on your site that really gets my dander up!!!

I saw the news referring to the "Decamper" patch to prevent campers from lurking in the shadows of many servers! What the heck kinda of whinny lack of vision do these guys have! Personally I started playing Quake as a camper, it was the only way to survive & learn the ins & outs of the game!

Yes, I agree it sucks when ya come teleporting into a room & take a size 9 pinapple in the performance review receptor! Ah, it sucks but its all in the fourtunes of battle! Obviously these boys never did any service time & understand that the fog of battle is all part of it so they need to adjust their tactics & grow a third eye as I have done.

Now , because of camping I have progressed into a respectable player who just smiles when I get slammed bye a camper! I know that guy is new and just trying to get a few jabs in at the "persons" who have become Megla-maniacs whom think they are the god of Quake!

I wish someone would pose this question to gamers and see if campers are considered "Threshes" in training!! It really urks me to see time & resources wasted on such Quake add-ons! To those kind of players I say "Get a life" and realize life is not a perfectly setup Quake match!

P.S. I have seen forms of cheating that should be cracked down on but campers are not one of those areas in this gamers point of view!

Thankyou for your time & I'm sorry to bother you but, when I saw that one I wanted to find those boys server & share a little shadow warefrare with them before I came out of the shadows & kicked some butt!!!

Thanks,

Tim Blum
