The internet is a world plagued by eternal quakes that send habitual shockwaves that whisper: move or die, move or die. Sadly, our beloved Aftershock exemplifies this motto of uberspeed. She was born to the young parents of Joost and Schuur, sometime in the cold of winter, 1995.

Aftershock matured quickly, so Joost and Schuur were under a great deal of pressure to take care of her properly. Aftershock, although young, provided an unparalleled source of news to her fellow quakers. She stressed herself every day in order to provide this great resource.

Like all precocious children, Aftershock was a burden and a joy to Joost and Schuur. Although she had virtually no competition, keeping news fresh and hot is not a hobby but a habit. For many months, Aftershock provided the premiere source of quake news, fast and hard, to the nascent community.

She thrived from late winter to early summer, 1996. Unfortunately, stress is a terrible thing, and Aftershock was not immune. She died rather quickly, leaving behind but a short suicide note. Her parents say they "had a lot less pressure in life without having to worry about [her] missing a site update." Joost and Schuur would go on to have other children, Slipgate Central, and (deformed?) tangled.

please, visit her grave, or send flowers to her parents.
