INTRODUCTION
Refer to this document for more information about the Return to Castle
Wolfenstein 1.1 Update. For more general information, please see the
Readme and Help files included with the original game.
INSTALLATION & SET UP ISSUES
1. The update won't install:
============================
You must have a full retail version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein
installed properly on your system before you will be able to install
the update. If for some reason the installer is not able to find your
install directory, please see the section below on "Extracting the
necessary files without installing."
2. Extracting the necessary files without installing:
=====================================================
Recommended only for System Administrators and advanced users. It is
possible to extract the necessary files without running the
installer. To do so, simply open the update using any unzip program.
Once you have it open, you'll want to replace these original files
(located in the RtCW root folder) with the new versions located in the
update:
Anet.inf
CGAME_MP_X86.DLL
QAGAME_MP_X86.DLL
UI_MP_X86.DLL
Wolfmp.exe
ISSUES ADDRESSED IN 1.1
1. Zombie Clients issue resolved:
=================================
The reported issue with zombie clients filling spaces on servers left
running for more than 24hrs has been resolved.
2. Lieutenant grenade spamming solved:
======================================
The bug allowing Lieutenants to throw grenades while in binoculars has
been resolved.
3. Issue with loading single-player maps fixed:
===============================================
There were many problems caused by launching single-player maps in
multiplayer since they were not intended for multiplayer use. It is
no longer possible to launch single-player maps from within a
Multiplayer game.
4. Various server stability issues implemented:
===============================================
Several bugs that caused servers to crash when left on for more than
24hrs were fixed. These fixes should greatly increase the potential
number of servers available on a daily basis.
5. Link to easily find future updates:
======================================
Once you install the update, a new link will be added to your start
menu. You will be able to use this to check in with
www.CastleWolfenstein.com to view any additional updates, maps, and
other official downloads.
6. Added Voice-Chat abuse fix:
==============================
The max number of voice chats you can issue within 30 seconds is now
defaulted to 4. Every time you issue a voice-chat, it looks back 30
seconds to make sure you haven't already issued the maximum number in
that time period. In other words, if you repeatedly hit "VRA", you
will get 4 "I need ammo!" calls in a row, and from then on, it will
only issue one every 8 seconds with the default setting.
This will allow for normal usage of voice-chats, but NOT allow someone
to just continually holler requests a dozen times in a row (we all
hate that).
If a server would like to change the setting, the new cvar is
"g_voiceChatsAllowed." The number given is how many voice-chats
within 30 seconds. So the default is 4. A higher number will allow
for more chats, while a lower number will allow even less.
COMMON QUESTIONS
1. Will I be able to play against users who have not updated their version to 1.1?
======================================================================
We strongly recommend that everyone download this small update -
especially people running dedicated servers for long periods.
However, you will be able to play against users who have not updated
their version to 1.1.
2. Will this update impact my save games in single player?
==========================================================
No. The Return to Castle Wolfenstein 1.1 update only addresses
multiplayer issues and your save games will not be affected in any
way.
3. Where can I check for other updates, such as maps, patches, and demos?
======================================================================
Once you install the update, a new link will be added to your start
menu. You will be able to use this to check in with
www.CastleWolfenstein.com to view any additional updates, maps, and
other official downloads.
