Test Your Game Knowledge 10:
Jason Takes Manhattan...at last

Since only two people managed to get these right, I bet you're curious what the answers are, right? Well, don't worry, here they are.

Question #1: Two of the console versions of Doom were ported in-house by id Software. Which two were they?

Answer: As strange as it may sound, the only two ports of Doom that were done in-house were the two that were seen by the least number of people: the Atari Jaguar, and Sega Genesis 32X versions.

Question #2: Early in his career, John Romero worked on one of the games in a popular RPG series. What game was it?

Answer: John Romero worked on the C64 port of Might & Magic II.

Question #3: Twice Blizzard Software has cancelled titles after promoting their development. Name them both.

Answer: The two high profile games that Blizzard cancelled were Pax Imperia II and Warcraft Adventures.

And the winner is...James Sablatura!

Woo hoo! E-mail us the name of the game you want, and we'll get that to you as soon as we remember to mail it.

And now...those zany entries all the kids are talking about:

Question #1: Boy, there are lots of wise asses out there.

"The first two"
-- theAntiELVIS

"a) Doom doom doom doom (Works best when sung to the beginning to Beethoven's fifth)
b) Super duper Doom"
-- Joe McGarry

"Who cares!?"
-- JIZITUP

"Since you say CONSOLE, Doom is only available on 3 console systems. N64, playstation and Sega Saturn. Since the N64 version was ported by Midway, I don't know for sure, but that leaves the playstation and saturn versions to be ported by id software."
-- Andrew

"Must have been the Sega Lynx and surely the Gameboy 2 with internet access...since this is what my old computer feels like now!"
-- CAESAR

"That would be Rise of the Triad for SNES and Saturn."
-- Hamster_Of_Death

Question #2: Even I'll admit it...this was a hard question. Muhahaahahahah. Sorry. I get carried away sometimes.

"Leisure Suit Larry. John was his stunt/body double."
-- Chris Harmon

"I hate john Romero because he sucks. He never worked on any RPG's in his career."
-- Darf Mall

"Wizardry. If it wasn't wizardry, then it was Ultima. (I think I've covered all the CRPG series now)."
-- Tanner Owen

"Ultima V seems to be the only reasonable guess."
-- brian

"Played as Dungeon Master in High School."
-- Bradley Ouimette

"Rescue Rover (haha, no really)."
-- Colin Stewart

"Final Fantsy."
-- Bryan

Question #3: This wasn't the hardest question in the world (at least I didn't think so), but boy did people have a hard time with it.

"Starcraft and Warcraft."
-- BRYON

"Pax Imperia, and some other game which I remember the demo movie for, but not the name."
-- Colin Stewart

"Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2."
-- bryan

"Their lame website."
-- Bradley Ouimette

"Warcraft Adventures, and Human Adventures. The Human adventures was scrapped because people already know about human adventures. Even old human adventures are described in history books galore. Then, because they did not want to be sued by humans claiming there was discrimination against humans, they axed warcraft adventures shortly thereafter."
-- Tanner Owen

There you go, everyone...hope you all had fun! Check back later in the week for our next contest!
