I'm wondering if I can pick your collective brains about what a good choice for a PC controller would be? I have a Xeox one currently, which is fine except one of the buttons occasionally sticks, which is not fine. I hear the Microsoft ones are good but don't last long. I'm looking for something reliable that'll last a long time, like I remember the SNES controller doing.

Any experience-based advice?

I've used an Xbox One wireless controller for years now, I'd guess it cost about £80 (including dongle) about 5 years ago. It's not glamorous, but it's been good for occasional usage (say, 2 - 4 hours usage on a typical week).

Occasionally the connection fails and I have to re-pair with the dongle but that's pretty trivial. Other than that, it's fine. No drift, no problems with any buttons, battery life is great and it's quick to replace the 2 AA batteries. I don't like the D-pad much, but I don't think I've ever used a controller with a D-pad I have liked so I think that's more of a me-problem.
