Hi guys,

Google absolutely terrifies me when I try to look for guides on how to start modding. There must be more accurate, meaningful "search results" by asking this community. How do I do it? Where do I start?

I don't have huge modding plans. I just hate the voices of the dwarves in Deep Rock Galactic and being an amateur VA myself, I'd like to give it a shot. I also want the AI in Breathedge to talk at a normal pace instead of 2.5x faster because myself and 90% of all other non-English speaking players don't understand a word he's saying.

So yeah, 2 fairly easy modifications but I have absolutely ZEROOOOO clues where to begin...

Very late reply but I don't drop into the non-news forums often and though I might help answer this a little.

Back in the day you could just swap the sound file on some stuff... That's how you could mod sounds on Half-Life for instance.

But with compression now you'd have to replace the whole library file that happened to have that content... you would have to know how it was stored and how to recreate it so the game would still accept it. If they used some kind of custom tooling, or there's some sort of checksum verification or whatever it could be very difficult. Or you might be able to find some attributes/settings for the volume of that particular sound playback... but again, you would have to edit the compressed file and recompile it somehow. Or I suppose you could edit it memory the way a trainer would... but you would still have to identify where it is and what to change, what the property does etc.

Unless the developers provide modding tools and/or documentation that makes it accessible to you... you're basically shit out of luck unless you're a talented programmer and smart enough to reverse engineer / decompile that shit.

Sorry if that's all gobbledygook.
I would suggest searching up the modding community for Deep Rock Galactic, assuming it exists, and see what kinds of tools and techniques they use to mod.
