16. My list Dec 27, 2017, 09:07 pawsons

My list starts from Taboo with Tom Hardy, then Better Call Saul, Man in High Castle and Peaky Blinders.
I watched Black Mirror but did not like all the sereies.
By the way Man in High Castle is based on the book by Philip Kindred Dick, the storiline is so out of the box that I even chose that as the topic my college creative writing.

To become a good storyteller and engage the audience is a complex task. You may check over here in search of the relevant topic for writing an essay.

The Wire
The Shield
Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
X-files (too old?)
Utopia (Only finished Series 1, from the BBC, I loved it.)
Trailer Park Boys (... and they're back for another season!)
Legit (on FX channel, by comedian Jim Jefferies)

And the best for last (and a runner up)
Top Gear, and it's bastardized cousin Top Gear America. Both great shows, the USA one gets going in late season 3 and is real strong in 4.

No need to watch The Walking Dead.

Yeah I don't know what to do about that now... I've got people at work telling me it's awesome, people telling me it's terrible... People telling me the first season was good but then it got bad but then the show got better again.

After today's Out of the Blue I don't know if I should bother.

I love it. I say try a couple of episodes online and see what you think. It did slow down after the first season, but I think it's still great. I like that the show deviates a lot from the comic. It keeps it fresh and you have no idea what is going to happen even if you read all the comics. (Like this week's surprise ending.)

Archer is something I need to check out, was a big fan of Sealab 2021 but couldn't get into Frisky Dingo. Another show that I need to start watching is The Walking Dead. Fringe too.

Currently I'm watching Alcatraz which actually seems to be getting a little better as it goes but it definitely won't be joining my top 10 anytime soon. The "main" characters are pretty boring/unlikable but I do like the formulaic approach to the prisoners and their 1 episode character history is usually pretty interesting and well acted.

edit: Wilfred had 13 episodes and has been picked up for a 2nd season.

Arrested Development*

Funny, though I've never seen BG there isn't a single show in your top 10 that I dislike but plenty in your remainder list.

I'd swap Wilfred, which had what, 8 episodes, with Justified, and Louie with Archer, though I think I'd regret that once I start actually watching Louie (not that I'd regret adding Archer but regret not taking out something else.)

Southland - the few cops I know say this show is one of the few that captures both the petty minutiae and intensity that the job entails

Battlestar Galactica

Archer - great comedy, it's animated but don't let that stop you.

Sons of Anarchy

The Shield - guilty pleasure, great story continuity

Homeland

House - great to marathon the early seasons at least

Fringe

Playing: Persona 5, Ys VIII, Mario vs Rabbids
Watching: American Gods, Stronger, Day of the Dead Bloodline

1. Top 10 Shows Dec 5, 2011, 16:27 Retired

What are your top 10 shows in the last....lets say 4 years.
It can be something like Sopranos that has run before those 4 years, but ended recently.

I have a number of shows I have gone through, and with Dexter almost over, looking for some new shows to watch on Sunday evenings. They can be on DVD, Netflix, current, etc.

Thanks.
