I didn't realize it has been around that long, not sure how I missed it. And yes, I must have been thinking of Humble Bundle. Anyway. thanks for the info.

Ah, though that seems like a new thing? Didn't the referral info used to be passed by URL parameters to the standard link? Perhaps I'm thinking of another site?
Not very new, the referral link was first used on March 21, when Blue's joined the affiliate program. Before that evening, plain links without referral code were used.

You may be confusing it with HumbleBundle.com links, which contain URL parameter 'partner=bluesnews' since May 8, 2020.

Depends on the destination. I'm going to guess GOG doesn't have its own in house referral tracking mechanism, so it's passed through a 3rd party that manages it(and takes their own cut in the process)
They used to have their own referral links straight to gog.com, but I've noticed recently that all GOG referrals now go through this new domain.

It's a new thing inasmuch as we didn't previously have a referral code for GOG.com. We recently joined their affiliate program, which is when the links changed.

If you look at this other recent post for GOG, it mentions at the bottom that BluesNews may receive referral commission using that link. It's a referral link, not an ad link(though click through conversions certainly do track some data elements in order to make sure the referrer gets their commission). Gotta keep the lights on.

I noticed that today's post GOG.com Summer Sale: Get Sanitarium for Free, all the links in the summary except for "GOG.com announces" are to an ad tracking domain (adtr.co). I haven't seen that before, and I'm not sure if that's a mistake or you're trying something new, but I try to avoid that stuff and many ad blockers just shut it down.
