Exactly as that

What do I mean? I mean internal server error and everything ;p

Tis related to the * symbol
Yes, the asterisk interfered with some regexp code for highlighting the search term(s) in news search results. Fixed now, thanks for the heads-up.

There is no highlighting in forum searches, btw.

That's too funny that you've never seen that search.
I can easily see the green, the red is a slightly harder to see. I'm glad my red
red green color blindness is a lot less pronounced than yours. Wink

Probably because I got color profile for my vision set weirdly. On my tablet I can see the button just fine... just never browse here with tablet
Mhh, I should probably look into that...

The searches should be all in 1 place no? Why is it 3 places? This be confusing to a newbie like me
Regardless of color (Blue is also color-blind), all buttons above and below posts are styled the same way, with a rounded colored box around the word(s) which lights up in a solid color when hovered. And the Search button is on all three page-types so it is always easily accessed. In the latter two types (topics index and thread listing) the link includes a parameter to pre-select the pertaining forum (e.g. General Discussion in my examples) in the search form.

Makes sense now that you explained how it works. So we do have a powerful search function, huh

I don't know whether the searches need to be all in one place but you definitely don't want one search that does both the News and the forums combined.

That is in the menu under the big bold SEARCH NEWS heading. Evidently it does not search the forums, then.

eRe4s3r wrote on May 30, 2022, 11:59:
Lol, there is zero indication that searches topics

Like for real where you even find that search function?
There is a green Search button, like for real, above the Forums Index, every topics index, and every thread listing. You must have tried really hard to overlook it.

Meanwhile, I have been looking at the server error for the news search, still considering the correct approach to fix it.

You've never been able to search the forum using the site search.

The site search does not search the forum. You have to use the forum search to do that.. Comment Search

* REMOVED * does not crash the forum search.
correction
The link I posted above does not search the General Discussion thread.
You also have to choose the radio button for "General Discussion" or "All forums" to search this particular thread.

Example:
Comment Search : All forums

I click on ADVANCED SEARCH
Enter * REMOVED *
Error

I have no idea where to find the search you linked

Oh... when you click on username
Lol, there is zero indication that searches topics

Nice bug. I got the error too:

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at root@bluesnews.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2 Server at www.bluesnews.com Port 443".

At least, it doesn't crash the web site server!

Subject doesn't handle it either right?

Testing more, it apparently*** does, but now you can't find this post via search, hah.

Definitely a bug though, when subject allows it, search should too.

Although, I am not sure subject allows it.. what happens if you make a new topic and make subject
* REMOVED *

? Too scared to try
