I don't know if this recent tweak changed it or not (since I haven't posted a message in weeks), but comment text box can now only be resized vertically. I like to stretch it out both vertically and horizontally when posting because I find the default size too small.
MeanJim, what's usually the approximate width of your browser window?
Just wanted to continue this conversation.

Well it's somehow even weirder now

Dang, I was hoping nobody would notice, now I had to spend even more time on those regexps.

Since you were a beta tester, could you try the same procedure on the other server?Kxmode wrote on May 8, 2020, 01:20:Forum/supporter levels are not relevant, the same method/query is used in all scripts. I'm more thinking in the direction of the frontpage switching script being cached by Apache's modperl. Which would be a tough nut to crack.
Frans, the issue might be related to jdreyer's forum level. Could he be in a weird state where ads are getting through regardless of what the cookies show?
It would be useful to know from people with ads on the frontpage whether they are indeed not getting ads on all the other scripts:

An unclicked link in a forum comment shows up as bright yellow (#FF9).
A clicked link shows up as light gray (#CCC).
However, the text itself is white (#FFF).
On a bright device, I'm having trouble seeing the clicked links, as there is little to differentiation between plain text and the clicked links. On a dim device, they're indistinguishable.
Is it possible to a dark yellow for the link, such as (#993)? Or dial it down to a darker gray, such as (#999)?
I've created some screenshots:
- Current link color.
- Dark gold link color.
- Dark gray link color.
Wonder what you all think.

But at least one more question I shoulda asked before: are both of you getting ads on all pages, or only the frontpage?
That narrows it down, but I won't be able to dig further today.
Hey Frans (or KX), try this (Windows 10):
1) Open Chrome Incognito window. This will load neither cookies nor extensions, for a "pure" experience.
2) Go to home. There are ads in the top banner, left nav bottom, and right margin:
https://www.bluesnews.com/
3) Navigate to a story via the continue here link for the Dirt 5 story. There are ads top, right, and bottom:
https://www.bluesnews.com/s/210766/dirt-5-announced
4) Navigate to the user admin page and sign in:
https://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/user.pl
5) Logged in and user menu loads. Ads top and right. I'm a support so Keep Ads is set off by default. However, still on the user admin page, so I assume it's "remembering" the session state from before my login:
https://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/user.pl
6) Ctrl-F5. Now ads on the user admin page are gone.
7) Navigate to home via the Blues News graphical logo at the top of the page. Ads left, top, and right. I believe ads should not display here as I'm logged in:
https://www.bluesnews.com/
8) Navigate to a story via the continue here link for the Dirt 5 story. Ads are gone. This is correct, as I understand it.
https://www.bluesnews.com/s/210766/dirt-5-announced
9) Navigate to comments via the comment link. Ads are gone.
10) Navigate again to home via the Blues News graphical logo at the top of the page. Ads left, top, and right.
Hope this helps.
