Edit. If you remove the spaces between } r g { it says "the word is too long" ^^
Strings of more than 100 characters (bytes, at the level this is tested) without spacing are not allowed indeed, to prevent potential wrapping problems.

Also code tag doesn't purge all scripting in the box, but that's just something else and probably unrelated.
Oh right, I kept forgetting to check whether textarea supports the placeholder attribute. It does, so be gone old-fashioned script-handling of that default phrase.

That's completely irrelevant... Bluesnews uses this

<html lang="en>

while the correct method is this

<html lang="en><meta charset="utf-8">
That is on my to-do list, but requires the underlying database to be converted to UTF8 as well, without changing how non-ASCII characters are represented in pages. That will take more time, after the ongoing responsive layout conversion of the forums.
This has been completed, database and HTML are now consistently using UTF8 (utf8_unicode_ci). No more Chinese characters.

If you still notice a wacky character encoding somewhere (news stories or forum posts), please let me know.

Edit: Hold your horses, already found some.
Edit 2: Found the cause and fixed it. Sweatdrop

I am bamboozled, didn't expect the above to work heh

Well done Frans

or in complex layouts this

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>

Lack of meta charset setting before loading the css means brave will auto-detect it based on site content and get it wrong depending on what it finds first.... point is, change the default for this website in your browser

Still doesn't tell me why it was ok yesterday and today it's wonky or how to fix it on Brave. I browsed all the settings, advanced and every submenu, didn't find anything about changing unicode and co.

Quick google search didn't help either. Heh, nvm, It's still readable until Frans fixes it on the site's end.

Cheers, ty anyway.

Well sometimes you can fix things.. and sometimes Brave removed the feature to select custom encoding a few months ago because Chromium removed the feature a few months ago, and to be clear, Google removed the feature from Chromium.

So yeah, you can't fix it in Brave. That was news to me too.

Google this

firefox change font encoding

Can't really link you to it, because it's some weird google search function, but it explains how to change site encoding. Make sure it's set to western and not unicode.

Not on Firefox and I changed nothing compared to yesterday on my browser ( Brave ).
