Its his fucking lawn. It's not like it's covered in trash where it's a health or actual nuisance issue. It's just grass, it's entirely cosmetic.

It is a nuisance property law. Once a code is put in place like this, it must be followed across the board. It was most likely enacted to take care of the worst of the worst. But I tell you this, when my shitty neighbor doesn't mow their lawn and i try to keep my house looking nice, it pisses me off.....as it does millions of others. You don't want to take care of your property - go live in a trailer or a townhouse.

We'd be far better off as a society doing away with lawns entirely. Swapping them out for rock gardens or wild gardens instead
If you want this, move to AZ. Pretty common to have a gravel yard.

Why should he move to the country? Its his fucking lawn. It's not like it's covered in trash where it's a health or actual nuisance issue. It's just grass, it's entirely cosmetic. There's a reason it grows. Lawn maitenance is an environmental nightmare as it is. Pesticides, petroleum based growth products, fossil fuels for mowers (yes even electric mowers still get that electricity from fossil fuel plants), and ultimately the massive waste of fresh water - which is running out everywhere. Simply so some asshole can feel he's conquered nature and have his neat little lawn, and yammer on with the neighbors about theirs? Fuck them and the horse they rode in on! So much for the "land of the free".

We'd be far better off as a society doing away with lawns entirely. Swapping them out for rock gardens or wild gardens instead, hell, even growing food on them. The manicured lawn is for assholes.

Christopher Rhymes is a hero for standing up for his rights

Uh, no. Christopher Rhymes is an idiot.

If he wanted to let his lawn grow he should have bought a home outside of the city. I have no doubt when he bought the home he had to sign an agreement to the rules under which they are forcing him to cut the lawn. If that wasn't acceptable to him, he should have not signed and found a different house to purchase.

Actaully it is a city code...don't need to sign anything. It falls under nuisance properties. Best part about it - he will be charged by the city. Here in MPLS, min fees are over $80. Added to your tax bill!

"He doesn't want to fit in with the rest of the neighborhood," said Kevin Marrs, neighbor.

Riiiiight.. Because fitting in with the neighborhood lawn bullies is a wonderful thing to do. Christopher Rhymes is a hero for standing up for his rights (not that he won though).

Because, you know, if someone's lawn is overgrown you can mob against that person in Ameeeeriiiica. Democracy is violence.
