Hell, it's even possible that Valve has scrapped Episode 3 entirely and is working on a proper HL3 instead. Hell, the Mayan calendar will end long before that ever ships. |

Ep2 + Portal are great because they bring back the HL1 science research lab thing in full force. I remember the majority of Episode 2 taking place outdoors. Still a good game though. If Episode 3 can surpass it, that'll be great. Hell, it's even possible that Valve has scrapped Episode 3 entirely and is working on a proper HL3 instead. One can always dream... |

I see that some of the level stuff is taken straight from some user made levels......
The animations look a lot better, the gfx look a lot better. Everything looks more polished.

But this hate on Valve is pretty funny, considering they are one of the best developers of all time that happened to be plagued with the worse fanbase ever. LOL! You've obviously never been a member of a flight sim community fan-site. Those guys will bitch for months if the developer put too few rivets on an F-18! |

They're obviously having a hard time getting titles and content out the door. This tells me they are not serious about developing. Or, perhaps, they're too serious about developing. And they have enough money and freedom to not have to rush anything out the door before they feel it's perfected. |

I really, really can't see Valve stopping making games, they're far too good at making lots and lots of money from them. To make games like they do requires Valve. But lots of other people could still run Steam well. If anything Steam would be what they sell off. |

did valve suddenly forget about all of that physics stuff they did with hl2? Why can't i move chests and cupboards to seal off doors, hallways windows? Why can't a choose if i want to carry an explosive instead of a med pack? Why aren't there more co-operative objectives? Why aren't there more puzzles as in hl2? Why can't I explore more? (yeah dynamic maps, now that would be cool) These are things I generally like to see in games but in L4D their exclusion is why it just works. Everything is kept as simple as possible so it's all down to the raw gameplay. That's why 4 random people can just jump into a game and decent enough teamplay is the norm, rather than the exception. |

well the boycott sure wouldn't stop the development of the game but it sure did have an impact on Valve..
with the release of the SDK and the 'fix' for the matchmaking system being an example

Episode 2 on the other hand was absolutely perfect and so much better than Half-Life 2.
Ep2 + Portal are great because they bring back the HL1 science research lab thing in full force. That was the best part of Ep2: dealing with a new Black Mesa and learning about Aperture Science's Borealis.

I'd rather see more episodic Half-Life than another Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2 was great and all, but it had some extremely dull parts that dragged for hours *cough* hoverboat *cough* and the pacing was so terrible in some parts.
Episode 2 on the other hand was absolutely perfect and so much better than Half-Life 2.

And really why the fuck do you want another Counter-Strike, I thought you people were against paying for more stuff? Counter-Strike doesn't need a new entry, it's still the number 1 played game on Steam everyday since 1998. CS is the last game that needs an new game because if they change up the gameplay, too many people will complain that it's not traditional enough for the "core"(aka faggot) gamers. There's so many different mods alone for CS you basically have every type of gameplay conceivably possible within a team based FPS.

PHJF: I can personally fire very fast with my mouse finger, so its possible it wasn't a bind I dunno. The videos play horribly jerky for me (stoopid streaming MS crap I guess) even though they are fully loaded and I have very low CPU usage, so I can't tell (even assuming I could).
Anyway, I've seen other console scripts where you can just hold the fire button down.
Personally I just use my belkin nostromo's repeat macro function. I know its not quite as fast as a pure console alias bind would be, but its pretty darn close (I tuned the repeats to fractions of a millisecond). And there's something to be said for not emptying your pistols so quickly that you are reloading more than firing. |

So much for the boycotting making any real difference. Irony at it's best. well the boycott sure wouldn't stop the development of the game but it sure did have an impact on Valve..

But Valve stopping development? That's gotta be one of the dumbest, most baseless conclusions I've ever heard in regards to the future of a game developer. They're obviously having a hard time getting titles and content out the door. This tells me they are not serious about developing.
It's been 5 years since they put out a big Triple-A in-house title. Games like Portal and L4D are cool and all, but they are rather slim when it comes to content and lack any story. They feel like really well executed HL2 mods, not games.
Essentially what I'm saying is:
WHERE THE FUCK IS HL3 ALREADY?? |

Fuck Episode 3. Just roll it into HL3 and be done with it. Episodic gaming was a fail.
Fuck L4D2. Fool me once.
I want the "next" Half-Life. You know, the game that's going to do to gaming today, what Half-Life did to gaming in 1999. |

Those videos didn't impress me. I liked L4D, but I'll wait till L4D2 is $20 or less before I get it. The main thing I noticed is that they fucked up the guns. There's no recoil and they sped up the reloading. The guy fires off those dual pistols faster than an SMG and reloads them in milliseconds. |
