Two Battlestations Pacific DLC Packs: One Today

Eidos Interactive announces the release a new pack for Battlestations: Pacific via Windows LIVE and Xbox LIVE today, with another pack planned for release on July 23. Today's new pack is called the Mustang Pack, which adds six new units, including the P-51 Mustang (the Cadillac of the skies!) and the theoretical Super Yamato Class battleship, as well as 18 pieces of nose art. Here are some screenshots from the new pack which will set you back 160 points on the Windows LIVE or Xbox LIVE marketplaces. The other pack is called The Carrier Battles Map Pack, which is planned for release on July 23 for 800 points. Here is how that's described: "The Carrier Battles Map Pack gives gamers four new maps, playable across all five multiplayer modes. Take part in a clash of carriers at Midway, do battle at dawn in the mist of the Philippine Islands, experience the fury of Kamikaze attacks in the rocky islands of the Leyte Gulf and take control of your forces amongst the mountain peaks and glacial waters of the icy Aleutian Islands." Finally, we must admit to missing the release of the promised "Volcano" map pack, which looks like it is now available.

Not for Xbox =/ Maybe the next DLC will unlock the jets. Not really that big a deal, my plate is full. I finisher COJ yesterday and did Quantum of Solace on 007 mode today. I got atleast 10 games to go through still so probably not going to worry with this DLC.

The single player is fun. The missions and gameplay are both pretty cool. There's a demo that has a lot of what the retail game has in it. Be sure to go check it out if you're interested in the game.

But good god, this has to be some of the worst voice over work I've ever been subjected to. And the intro cinematic just seems like disjointed insanity.

My only other complaint about the game is using the command map, but I'm using it with a controller, so it's hard to issue orders one unit at a time with a thumbstick.

I may have to check out these new map and unit packs, but I'm a little on the broke side right now, and I doubt I can pass up $25 for Fallout 3.

I would still be playing this from time to time if it didn't force multiplayer play in order to unlock some of the best aircraft in the game.

This game looks like a lot of fun, has anyone played it? I'm waiting for it to go down in price, but will pick it up at that point. How is the single player?
