Rendition Guantanamo Rendered Moot

A Rendition Guantanamo: The Game Official Statement announces that the just revealed Rendition Guantanamo has been cancelled, due to controversy over what was perceived as the game's pro-terrorist concept (thanks GamePolitics). The statement indicates that most of this speculation was incorrect, but the game is being cancelled nonetheless:
Having clarified our position on terrorism, I would now like to refute all suggestions that the game was in any way linked to Al Qaeda. T-Enterprise has never had and would never have a link to Al Qaeda in any way, shape or form. Furthermore, we would certainly not facilitate a means of funding for any group that undertook terrorist activities. The game was simply designed to be an action video game that adults could enjoy.

However, as a direct result of the extreme reaction that the game and its popular misconceptions have provoked, T-Enterprise has decided to pull out of the project and will not be completing Rendition: Guantanamo.

So those books and the Qur'an where written in english, and you just copied and pasted from the orignils to here then.?

I just don't know what the right thing to call you is? I'll settle for trud but it's not what I really mean.

Do you know what the terms "Useful Idiot" and "dhimmi" mean?

As to your shameless apology for Islam and its congenital jihad, there are three points you ought to consider:

First, Arabic is a human language, just like any other. The idea that Qur'an cannot be understood except in Arabic is patently and obviously false. It is comprehensible to anyone who can read.

Second, the translations I use are mainstream and traditional, made by Muslims for English speakers -- if it is impossible to understand Qur'an except in Arabic, why have Muslims made so many translations?

Third, it's a lot easier to attack someone pointing out the words and deeds of Muhammad -- according to his own texts! -- than it is to challenge those who believe those words and deeds worthy of obedience and imitation.

You are a lionheart.

Amillennialist its because of people like you (on both sides) that this fucking War of Terror (or any other war for that matter) exists.

You make me sick to the stomach. People like you, Ill call em "the haters" make me regret to have ever been born.

According to you, the "other side" (you don't have the courage to name them?) rapes, enslaves, and slaughters those who refuse the "invitation" to their "religion," but I merely point out what they say fuels their barbarism, so I'm just as bad as they are.

According to you, Muhammad commanded and practiced genocide -- and his followers strive to carry out those commands and imitate that example -- but I merely point out his words and deeds, so I'm a "hater."

According to you, because I quote Muhammad, war exists!

You prefer that 9/11 and other acts of Islamic terrorism go unanswered. To you, if our innocents are slaughtered, that's okay, but if we fight back, then we're just as bad as they are?

That's not virtue, that's cowardice.

You are right about one thing: If not for people like me -- who believe we ought to defend ourselves against pure evil -- there would be no war.

Of course, there would be no Jews, no America, no free people in Europe or Asia, slavery would still be going strong in the Confederacy, your mother, wife, and daughters would be sex slaves to some sheikh, and you'd be headless.

I'm sure the mujahideen will be happy to fulfill your regret.

Of course, by that time, you'll wish that they had just been quoting other people's texts.

The term "War OF Terror" more accurately describes the huge civilian death toll and the overreach of American military power.

Is that ignorance or mendacity?

If anything, President Bush's response was too reserved, too careful, and too considerate of Islamic sensibilities.

As for responsibility for civilian deaths? That belongs to those who target civilians, those who began this war. And that wasn't Bush, the Jews, poverty, or colonialism.

Blame Muhammad and those who follow his dictums and example:

"Allah’s Apostle said, 'I have been made victorious with terror. The treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand'" (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220).

"the Messenger of Allah . . . would say: 'Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war. . . . When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. . . . Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. . . . If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them . . .'" (Muslim Book 19, Number 4294).

"fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war) . . . " (Qur’an 9:5).

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued" (Qur'an 9:29).

"Allah's Apostle said: 'I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle . . . '" (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24).

"It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise" (Qur'an 8:67).

Much like ghost, I've only ever hear stories of terrorist, I anit yet seen any with my own eyes.

So as it stands I anit much scared of either.

(There was the French blowing up the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland, but history calls that an operation by French Intelligence Services, so if I French they would be the good guys (and girls))*

If they weren't terrorists going in, they dang sure will be coming out.

The first part is debatable, but the second is most likely true. Whether they started as a terrorist or become one, it is doubtful they can be assimilated back into society. Therefore, what to do with them? I'm seriously curious what you think the answer is.

If it was R*, they would have said "Fuck you, you redneck, pedophile, right-wing arseholes. We'll develop the games we want to develop!" and then sell a million copies based on the controversy alone.

I don't recall Rockstar pretty much telling roughly half of the US population to go fuck itself when trying to sell any of its games.

Pro-terrorist? The men in Gitmo lack the access to jurus prudence. You'd need to actualyl convict them first. Imagine spending 7 or 8 years in prison just being suspected of something. If they weren't terrorists going in, they damn sure will be coming out.
Exactly. They're suspected terrorists and even that is dubious. And even though Obama has pledged to close Guantanamo Bay there are still other facilities run by the US operating in other countries doing the same thing and they're not going to be shut down.

Some of the so called "patriotic" comments on this board remind me how serious paranoid delusional psychosis can be.

Its like everytime a sensitive subject is breached in the US outside of the news services (especially the ones dealing with wonderful clusterfuckups like Guantanamo) everyone goes "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, how dare you say anything about this!!!! Its unpatriotic! Its unamerican!"

Its like if no one says anything about it, maybe it didnt happen....

If the developers had stuck with it and ignored the media, it would have done ok regardless of what was squeezed out the other end.

I'd be keen if they done it in a Monkey Island graphic adventure style (I bet you all that Guantanamo is a complete "Rubber Chicken With a Pully in it" free zone)

Slighty more serious, If this or the Six Days in Fallujia game are a good idea, why have there not been any mods to other games prototyping the style of gameplay they are going for. Also, are there mods for CIV4 that portray any of the current "war on terror" type sinarios.

Back to less serious - I look forward to the sqeul to this war "the war on horror" - we can use the same signs, just paste 'Ho' over the 'Te'
