Well you and I have been around long enough that we should be able to spot a low res screenshot and possibly whether it's from PC or console...especially when we have a previous game to compare against.
But it's a toss of the coin as to whether a screenshot is representative of a game or not. If you look at GTA4 screenshots then you see incredibly high resolutions and anti-aliasing, whereas neither the consoles or the PC port look like that. Plenty of other shots look much better than the in-game graphics of the games they represent. Personally I think it's ridiculous that Valve would put out X360 screenshots - afterall, they're completely in control of them. They should release shots at the absolute maximum quality setting on the most capable system. If Valve put out terrible screenshots then it's our responsibility to ignore them and imagine the game will be better? Is that really any different to people assuming the worst?
Read the IGN article. The color palette has changed, FOR A REASON.
Fair enough, but I don't have to like it.
No not really. Until a few years ago, requests for new dynamics, weapons, models, maps etc would be seen only in a sequel or expansion. Gamers expectations for free or cheap DLC is outrageous these days.
Maybe, but Valve has delivered for TF2 and that game was considerably cheaper.
I don't think you got my point. The hatred is not being based on what we've seen, it's being based on what hasn't been seen. People are assuming it's going to be $50, stand-alone, copy and paste gameplay, no new game modes, L4D support abandoned, etc, etc.
Well, it's a sequel so that suggest standalone and full priced. Notice that Crysis Warhead wasn't called Crysis 2. And obviously they're going to try new things - modes, colours, theme - because the engine has seen little improvement and they need to justify it as more than just an expansion pack.
it was stated in an interview that Left 4 Dead is not being abandoned as some changes will be made to the first game as well.
But the additions that we've seen so far have been lacklustre and damn near pathetic in comparison to TF2. What are the chances of seeing another three or four campaigns being added for free when the pay-for sequel will feature five?
I really don't have a problem with people disliking L4D. I have a problem with some opinions being stated without facts.
That will always happen but I think my points has been reasonable.
Anyway, I'm happy to be proved wrong. L4D went through a major character redesign and it's possible we'll see the same again. It's also possible some of the biggest features haven't been fully detailed and there may be some twists. I'm not ruling out liking it but I have some serious reservations.
