How hot does cast iron get in a charcoal grill? Hot enough to melt through
heavy-duty fireplace gloves is what I learned over the weekend, when I used my
gloved hand to brace a cast iron smoking box as I moved it out of the fire, and
managed to collect a burn in under a second. I stopped cooking my finger
quickly enough that it didn't blister, but it is very painful, so as a
two-finger-typist, I am at half-capacity for the moment.

I heard somewhere that the gas pumps at gas stations are not UL approved for E85 and that the insurance companies won't insure because of that. I'm not certain where to look for this information though.
Although, after that article, it kind of makes sense that it would be the case.
Also, Ethenol can be very fuel efficient if you change the engines to run just that. Sort of like the high octane fuel of race cars need high compression engines to work properly.

Conventional over -> 450 degrees, max.
Charcoal grill -> can get up to 1000 degrees... (depends a bit on the charcoal, but it gets VERY hot.)
This is why people get things off the grill with metal thongs
