Another Fallout 3 DLC Hint?

No Mutants Allowed has some fuel for the fires of speculation over the possibility that a fourth batch of DLC for Fallout 3 is in the works, which has been hinted at by an online listing, and has not been ruled out by Bethesda Softworks. Using the Fallout 3 G.E.C.K. scripting tool, they have uncovered a reference in the Broken Steel DLC specifically referencing a fourth DLC, as it is called: "DLC04RelayStatBackdoorUnlockSCRIPT."

There are no scene releases for BtDS, period.

There are no scene releases for any of the FO3 DLC either. That doesn't mean they don't exist and don't work perfectly fine. Most indie games don't get official scene releases either.

In fact, the first working cracks for Bioshock, Mass Effect and Dark Athena were non-scene.

the last five years.

Fallout 3 (2008). Are you writing from ~2013?

It feels like you're on the hate wagon again, Creston I don't understand why you think upgrading the mod API is such a vile thing? Surely new features were added?

Are you deliberately being stupid, or are you just being a huge troll trying to make a name for yourself. I'm on the hate wagon again? I'm one of the biggest Fallout 3 fans on this fucking board. Who, exactly, are you?

Remember when Oblivion came out? Remember that Oblivion used the exact same mod base as Fallout 3? Remember that 90% of the Fallout 3 tools were ported directly from their counterparts in Oblivion? Remember those five years in which we handled mods the same way?

Oh, and surely new features were added? Really, please explain to me which features were ADDED in 1.5, with regards to mods? I'll wait while you figure it out.

Given the list of mods I actively use, I fail to see the issue here (and I've noticed you've posted this on more than one thread).

Good for you son. I'm glad I have a new fan.

In that "list" of mods you use, do any of them create new NPCS? Do any of them use non-permanent references in a new worldspace? Do any of them have this fun issue where the content is there the first time you visit a location, and then it permanently disappears?

If not, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Here, this thread may enlighten you a little bit.

What do you want, bean counter? It's cracked and available free on the net. It does not matter, if it's an "official" scene release.

You are both wrong. This DLC was cracked and is freely available on the intertubes.

No actually you're wrong. There is no official scene crack, there is a homebrew crack for 1.01a and it causes a lot of crash problems. There are no scene releases for BtDS, period.

Ehh... I ended up using GFWL and although I don't like it I haven't really had any major problems with it either. I hope they go a different route next time though. I'll still buy more DLC if they make it. Why? Because it works okay for me. The latest patch bugs are annoying, but anyone who has been playing Bethesda games for any length of time now should know that they are not exactly ever bug-free. There is a reason people were calling them Bugthesda back in the day.

They will ... if enough people would just STOP BUYING THIS CRAP!!!!

What crap? Oh, you mean the crap game I thoroughly enjoy and have played through a few times enjoying the various modifications the community has produced?

I don't use GFWL (using steam) and DLC, well if they offer it in an alternate format at some point I'll get it. Or mebbe I'll just pirate it. I'd like to hand over my dollars to a company that produces good content (and from what I've heard, the DLC's are fun) but I'm not going to jump through hoops to do it.

This is more an indictment on GfWL (although Beth does get a bad rap for utilising it). It's a dog of a service run by idiots, and it's useless.

Awesome. This way Bethesda can release another patch that breaks the way mods have been handled for the last five years.

Actually, Bring Down the Sky has apparently been cracked. Just do some searching on The Pirate Bay or another torrent site and you'll see it.

Added benefit of impossible to pirate, no one has ever cracked Bring Down The Sky for Mass Effect either.
Do not mistake 'no one has been able to crack it' with 'no one cares to crack it'.

I believe the case with BDtS is the later.

When Fallout 3's DLC was created there was no DLC support in Steamworks so it's not like they had a lot of other options. Personally I think they should've gone the Mass Effect route and just had a download tied to your cdkey and forum account. Added benefit of impossible to pirate, no one has ever cracked Bring Down The Sky for Mass Effect either.

Is there any way to "convert" the DVD-based version into a Steam-supported version, or would I just have to buy everything all over again? How are the DLC's handled on Steam? Is this still a purchase through the GFW interface?

you can't 'convert' your version. you'd have to buy it again over steam. and the dlc is not available on steam anyway... even the people who bought it through steam have to go through gfwl to get the dlc. the dlc is exclusive to games for windows live.

I hope they bypass GFW entirely with FO4!

They will ... if enough people would just STOP BUYING THIS CRAP!!!!

But, sadly, they won't. Becuase its teh Fallout 3! And for a lot of people, it is nigh impossible to just say: "No! Thank you! No more money from me, as long as the content is connected with Live!"

So, will they drop GFW? No, of course not, why should they?

It'd be nice to make sure that everything WORKS before releasing another DLC package. I bought Operation Anchorage, and played through it once. Then I bought the other two and started a new game. Now I can't get OA to work. Everytime I try to start the quest, the game crashes to desktop. Which is swell, since, with the new 1.5 patch, the game hangs every time I try to quit.

I did play through The Pitt last night. Here's hoping that I can get Broken Steel to run as well. But I won't buy another package until I feel reasonably confident that I can access all the content that I've paid for in a reliable way. I guess that means I'm hoping and waiting on another patch.

I LOVE the game. It's just a shame that this thing -- in my opinion -- has been completely subjugated to Microsoft's XBox Live nonsense. I wanted FO3 bad enough to ignore the fact that this was how it would work, and I will certainly admit that I've gotten my $125 out of the game (collector's edition and DLC packs), but man! This has been a headache. I've wasted several hours trying to fix problems with the game, and I guess the XBox version has been problematic as well.

I didn't think that it would be released for Steam. I wish I had waited. But, unfortunately, that's just the delivery side of things. I think the problems have come about because the thing was written to work with GFW. I hope they bypass GFW entirely with FO4!

Is there any way to "convert" the DVD-based version into a Steam-supported version, or would I just have to buy everything all over again? How are the DLC's handled on Steam? Is this still a purchase through the GFW interface?
