Dawn of War II Patch Plans

The Dawn of War II Website has further installments in "The Road to Patch 1.3," an epic serialized saga detailing plans for the upcoming version 1.3 patch for Relic's RTS sequel. In Part Three there is a discussion of plans to improve Skirmish AI, Part Four has screenshots and some details about new weapons and items added by the patch, and in Part Five they outline how squad decorators are redesigned in the new version.

I would argue this whole thing just says don't buy their games in the future.

Don't buy them full retail... Gogamer offered this game for $34.99 (maybe I'm off by a few bucks?) and at that price this game is a great value. I bought it at $49.99 off steam and in hind sight I wished I'd waited and just bought it for $34.99.

When tales of Valor came out, a game i want, I didn't even consider paying full retail for it mainly because of the rollout of DoW2. I'm still waitin gon tales of Valor, if they are going to release crap I can live with that, I'll just hold my funds back until the game is priced accordingly...

You can't blame Microsoft for Relic's failings. The bugs at the game's release were there because Relic either didn't bother testing their patches or didn't care. They shouldn't have been in release in the first place. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't slow the process down a full 2 months. That is just Relic pulling everyone off the project and not putting forward proper effort to fix a critically broken game. THQ is a sinking ship and Relic's quality went down with them.

I would argue this whole thing just says don't buy their games in the future.

I am playing campaign coop with a friend, in fact we just started since we were waiting for first real patch to play, although now we may wait for this patch to finish the campaign. Coop campaign is pretty fun on the hardest difficulty.

However, I would like to point out that Relic usage of MS GFWL which horribly slows down patch releases makes a case for people to wait with purchase of future Relic games and get them at lower price 1-2 months after release. Considering it takes that long to get first real patch out and polish the game.

I bought the game quite early, still at good deal but my friend waited 2 months and bought the game for $20 from UK. Saved himself $30 and didnt miss anything since game waited that long for patches anyways mainly to fix pop cap bug.

I wonder how many people are still playing the campaign. Is it really worth putting resources in adding new items to that instead of spending the time on eg. reworking the fucked up balance? I do appreciate the effort, it's just that there are more important issues that need to be addressed.

This is good, however if it wasnt for MS GFWL this patch would already be out.

It's good to see Relic supporting this game like they are now because I one day look forward to booting up the online and playing a match or few again.
