Fallout: New Vegas Revealed

MCV has word that Bethesda Softworks has unveiled Fallout: New Vegas, a new RPG set in the Fallout universe being developed by Obsidian (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Never Winter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol). Details are scant for now: Word is the game will use the Fallout 3 engine, but will not be a Fallout 3 sequel, and will be released for PC and consoles next year.

Cool! Well I hope Bethesda Obsidian does something very cool with the story.

Note to self: please buy Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt.

I'd agree with Space Captain.

That said, I can't wait to finally dig into Fallout 3. I loved Oblivion (on the 360) and found the bugs to often be quirks. I don't know how you cut that difference, but they were somehow endearing. On the 360. As was the weird AI that fell really far short of promises. The only thing that really bugged me was the ability to break combat in the game due to their weird balancing, and the beggers that would jump accents every other line.

I'd expect more of the same from Fallout 3. But I'm still having too much fun with RE5 Mercenaries, still plowing through Saints Row 2, and up next is going through Gears of War 2 co-op.
Why did I wait so long to rebuy a 360?

Either way, we can at least expect better writings and more role playing elements in this game.

With any luck you are right!

Wasn't New Reno basically Vegas?

That said, if Avellone works on this, I expect great things.

Loved Fallout 3, it would be awesome to see the city of Vegas in that game. I want an apartment at the top of the Wynn!

I've enjoyed all of Obsidian's games so far, even if they tend to be buggy.

Yeah I was going to say this could easily be buggier than a Bethesda game...

Still excited though...I enjoyed FO3...

This sounds interesting. I've enjoyed all of Obsidian's games so far, even if they tend to be buggy. It might be worth dealing with bugs if we get a less sterile game than Fallout 3.

My guess is it wouldn't use the Fallout 3 engine and would be a development that happened in part due to the Aliens RPG cancellation.
I'd suspect some ideas work in both franchises.

Not sure what their sources are, but at the event itself Bethesda did NOT want to confirm whether it uses the Fallout 3 engine, or whether Obsidian will use it own Alpha Protocol engine.
