I guess they agreed with me that L4D needed to be shipped with alot more content
I see similar comment come up frequently from people who don't have the game - I myself was thinking similar things before I bought it.
A campaign averages say an hour with 4 campaigns, so that'd be a
very short 4 hours if this was a singleplayer game. On the other hand, each 4 campaigns is 5 sections which equate to roughly a multiplayer map each, so it's a MP game with 20 maps.
Being co-op it comes somewhere in the middle. But then there's the variation which comes from both "Director" and teammates. Alone, these probably wouldn't make much difference but together it's substantial - it's like for each map there's a physical layout and certain rules, but each time you play it's like different guy made it. Well, that's probably overstating it, but every time there is a new experience to be had.
At full price I stayed away then pounced on the half price weekend and for me the full price would have been a bargain. Yes, imo this DLC simply fixes vs mode for 2 campaigns and adds a minor feature that a mod could have done pretty easily - what I'm really looking for in DLC is a new campaign.
But if there was no more DLC ever, it'd still be one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played, and it's still be one of the games I'd got the most hours out of.
Buying the game because of the hype and not buying the game because of the hype are mere flipsides of the same coin. The only way to defeat hype is to simply ignore the hype.
