My pick would be Mechwarrior 2.

I'm not much for online gaming, but I used to love getting together around a TV for some multiplayer with my real friends. Since becoming a grown up though, and having my friends move away or become too busy with family and work, multiplayer in the same room becomes too difficult a thing to arrange most of the time.

Obviously a matter of personal taste, but my all time favourite along with the game itself:

Deus Ex. Incredible soundtrack.

Disable voice chat. The option is somewhere in that mess they call a dashboard.

It's hard to "mute" people who ruin the game. You can vote someone off, but if you get two griefers in a game you are out of luck...

If you don't want to listen to screaming 12-year-olds on XBL, just mute them.

Online multiplayer is fine if you game with actual friends.

Gaming with anonymous internet people is a huge toss up though (always was).

Some of the L4D games I join feature some primate yelling the F-Bomb over and over. Some of them feature some nitwit killing whoever got Louis - because the Louis character model is black. There are a ton of rage-quits too. It gets old pretty fast.

Playing with friends is usually fun.

Chrono Trigger = best gaming soundtrack ever. It's so good that the 32 bit versions are far better than the orchestrated ones.

Well considering that 'gamers' in this article refers to console gamers, I don't blame people. It's that or hop on Xbox's multiplayer space and deal with the plethora of 12-15 year old kids spewing all kinds of garbage online. Their community is known to be rather rotten and full of bratty kids. So why would anyone BESIDES a kid want to play on it?

And on the other article, 23 amazing game sound tracks. It includes the N64 doom soundtrack but not the original Doom soundtrack! The N64 was a complete hack of the original and not remotely as good. WTF was the writer thinking?
