You want the new weapons just given to you. Why play the game at all?
I would imagine that they want the weapons so they can have fun with them when they play the game. Video games should first and foremost be about having fun, after all. They shouldn't be a series of painful tasks leading to an eventual reward. That's 'operant conditioning', not 'gameplay'. Maybe some people enjoy being a rat in a Skinner box, but they shouldn't look down on people who choose to retain their humanity by using an unlocker. That this Pavlovian kind of design is now considered normal is very disturbing.
