Out of the Blue

It seems to be slowing down now, but for a few days there was a surprising amount of spam in my inbox using the word "crysis" in place of crisis, things like "financial crysis," with no sense this relates to a game. I guess this is another effort at thwarting filters, which does not seem to actually work.

Links Crysis: Thanks Ant and Mike Martinez.
Play: Mirror's Edge 2D beta.
Cursor Chaos.
Links: Top 10 Favourite Boss Battles. Thanks Digg.
Story: Seattle man accused of sinking his own yacht. Thanks Digg.
Science: Comet Lulin to arrive tonight. Thanks brother19.
Stiletto Boat- The Water's 'Batmobile'. Thanks brother19.
Media: MLG/ESPN Top Ten Halo kills and plays from MLG.
Back to the Future Alternate Ending.
Follow-up: Satellite Collision May Have Endangered All Future Space Launches.
The Funnies: Dilbert.
UserFriendly.
The Gelatinous Cube - Open Letter to Capcom.
ActionTrip Comic Strip- The E3 We All Know And Love.

Further, in a few hundred years the fight for limited resources on earth

Few hundred? I call 50-100 years, if that.

It could even have already started.

Yay optimism.

EDIT: Back to the Future Alternate Ending... DEAR LORD I needed that... Laugh2

Dan =0)

PS Had a pretty bad day today. Please tell me it's Friday.

Heinlein wrote in his non-fiction expanded universe that humans only have a narrow window to leave earth. At an orbital speed of 17,000 miles an hour, a fingernail clipping is enough mass to punch through a spaceship. There simply won't be enough room to get through the junk. Further, in a few hundred years the fight for limited resources on earth will prevent use of resources for space colonization.

Yeah, I think I sent you the email about your Valentine’s day post (like last Wed or maybe even Tuesday?), got a email back saying it had timed out (Thur?), and then I forwarded that response to you as an FYI (also Thur). Then you replied to the original email I believe on Friday...

It's not a biggie at all, but I did want to let you know that email was acting wonky as far as getting to you...

I always wonder if, since a lot of times I only include a link and minimal text to go along with it, if maybe a spam filter (either at your ISP or on your local machine) catches it, thinking it's spam...but there was at least one time out last week.

This all falls under what I call "the man on the moon" principle, as in "We can put a man on the moon, yet we can't manage to..."

  • Make a 20" CRT display that weights under 2 tons

  • Make a cell phone that doesn't drop calls when you're standing on top of a building in broad daylight

  • Make email delivery work

  • etc, etc,...

edit: And of course, some will now point out we didn't put a man on the moon, hence why none of this other stuff works either.

Your mail has seemed slow in general. Did you get that notice I sent about that one bouncing?

    Hmm, no, I did not.

Guess I have something to look into. Wall
