Save Your Mass Effect Saves

A post on the Mass Effect Community Website to a tread discussing the new Mass Effect 2 teaser trailer has a confirmation from BioWare quality assurance tester Jack Lamden that Mass Effect 2 will have some form of carryover from the first installment in the RPG series. He says simply: "Hang on to your Mass Effect 1 saves." Thanks VG247.

Except for "First human Spectre" which most assuredly does not apply to Alenko or Ashley "Worst Romance Dialog EVER" Williams.

Oh you're right, I forgot about that one...

All romance dialogs were pretty lacking in ME, but I don't really give a shit about romance dialogs, so oh well.

Such as if you choose to save the council members as well as if you choose to side with the human ambassador to create a human-focused new council.

I think one of the novels establishes the Paragon end as canon, but I could be wrong.

Note that nowhere does it say that Shepherd is the one who dies. All the things shown in the trailer apply to Williams and whathisnamewhoisvoicedbytheguywhoGarth'svoiceinKotortoo.

The General Protection Fault was introduced after the Nvidia 177.02 drivers, which just so happen to be the first with the integrated phys-X drivers, so there has been a lot of speculation that this was the cause.

I tried the game a few days ago to see if it was still working, ran fine for me, although for some reason all my settings had reverted to "Ugly as Shit Mode."

Nvidia 180.something drivers.

And they probably felt the need to confirm the relevance of your old save file when people started questioning it in light of the teaser's contents.

My guess is one of them dies in the opening segments of the game, to add some "grit" to it or something.

Fuck it, I don't care. I love Mass Effect.

I'm guessing only your character's appearance will carry over into ME2. If your stats carried over, the game would be ridiculously unbalanced. ME1 was already too easy to begin with. Starting the game with a maxed out character would be overkill.

The General Protection Fault was introduced after the Nvidia 177.02 drivers, which just so happen to be the first with the integrated phys-X drivers, so there has been a lot of speculation that this was the cause. It seems that the problem is much more prevalent with Nvidia hardware. If the game worked prior to this driver release, it's hard to fault Bioware too much, though it would have been nice if they had worked with Nvidia to get this problem sorted out.

Any word on whether/if Mass Effect 1 and 2 will be out on the PS3? Don't have a 360, nor any interest in ever getting one.

I *could* get it for the PC, but complaints of bugs and DRM discourage me otherwise. Plus I would rather enjoy playing it on the couch on a big-screen TV.

So, ever coming out on the PS3? Bioshock saw a delayed release. Any rumors on such a thing happening for Mass Effect 1?

I would make a new ME1 save... if EA's BULLSHIT DRM did not lock me out of a game I LEGALLY PURCHASED.

There's a solution for that you know.

I luckily had few bugs with MEPC but I know plenty of others did. But it's not really because of Bioware. They hired and outside group to do the PC conversion and it's buggy because they suck at it. Ever noticed that little icon for Demiurge Studios on the main screen? Thats who did it.

Course.. it's still Biowares fault for hiring a shit group to do the conversion (they were probably the cheapest they could get.) Hearing that they want to do ME2 PC sooner then they did ME1 (because they aren't beholden to M$ anymore,) will hopefully mean they will do it in house and perhaps even release the PC version simultaniously.

At least.. one can hope.

Edit: And another hope, do away with the boring ass generic cover system of placing waist-high walls every few feet in every single area of the game, even right in the middle of a road or hallway. It's a console fad that is rather stupid and pathetic. Use some real time collision instead ala Farcry 2 or FEAR 2.

Other than that ME ran fine for me. Tho granted I have not been able to run the game with the nVidia drivers that apparently cause the GPF. I was locked out of the game long before that.

I personally never experienced any bugs whatsoever, but mileage varies I imagine. As for ME2 I can't wait, the original was fantastic.

Yea the PC version is really, really buggy, I don't know how Bioware managed to release such a buggy game.

I can see why it would be wise to keep your saves as several decisions you make would have direct consequences on the aftermath of the end game events.

I would love to see the PC edition out sooner (and on Steam.) Simultaneous development would be even better, at least then it would probably be a bit less consolized.

I would assume it's for both; unless Microsoft suddenly pays them a bajillion dollars for sudden 360 exclusitivity, they've even said they plan on getting the PC version out faster than the original.

And they probably felt the need to confirm the relevance of your old save file when people started questioning it in light of the teaser's contents.
