Well, thanks guys for the insight. Much more info than I expected and not even one trip across the Jersey state line.
Anyway, I think I might hold off for now. It seems like EVE requires a lot (if not
all) of time to devote to it, which isn't in an abundant supply for me right now. The concept sounds very interesting - some aspects sound very X3-ish. Corps, blueprints, stuff like that. Just much more social.
One thing that caught my attention is that higher ranked players can invade the noob areas and reek havoc. That doesn't sound like a very good design decision to me. Granted, life isn't fair but it would be extremely frustrating and I don't think that's the goal of the game - or any game. I would have thought that players past a certain level would not be able to enter a newbie area, or if they could, not be able to fight. Are all MMORPG's similar in this respect? (If you haven't guessed - yes, I'm a major noob when it comes to MMO's. My specialty is sims, particularly racing and space sims)...
