At least as compared to the halcyon days of Sierra, Origin, Microprose, Dynamix, Black Isle, Bullfrog, Looking Glass, and many other brilliant developers.

PC exclusives can still be made, and still be profitable, but they can't be high-budget, and they certainly can't cater solely to the high-end market. Back in the good old days, you didn't need 3 million sales just to reach profitability.
Specifically, the industry's fascination with all-or-nothing big-budget games.

IMO consoles are just as bad, what happened to complex games with a actual learning curve?
But I'm a complete elitest, I'll be the first to admit it, I've even worse when it comes to music and movies.
I don't see casual gaming as taking a single player away from harder core games. It's a different genre. Whats killing PC gaming is consolitus, and the fact that there are very few PC games left.
A cross platform game is not a PC game.
