Out of the Blue

Happy New Years Eve! I don't know about where you are, but we are getting an added bonus today of a fairly substantial snowfall. This has the potential to add further hazards to what is already a dangerous time to be on the roads, so here's hoping everybody takes extra care when driving today.

I don't think it's getting a "wide" release but more of an "extended limited release" designed to garner buzz for Oscar nominations. It doesn't really need any buzz tho as it is already poised to take the proverbial cake

Marisa Tomei dancing topless in a strip club was a plus as well.

Well I was forced to Bit Torrent as the only theatre in this state showing The Wrestler. Definitely a fantastic movie, but I still think Wall-E was the best of 2008.

It almost made me want to go back and dig up some Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage videos...

Happy New Year everyone!

Did anyone else watch that idiot daredevil jump his bike onto the fake (Las Vegas) Arc De Triumph and then jump back down? Crazy.

Smart Dog.

That kind of action probably takes a good deal of "thought" as opposed to being conditioned to run the track as fast as possible.

That's the kind of shit that has ruined PC gaming, so I think I'll pass on his PC-evangelism.

No wonder the list is so weak. "PCs ape consoles in emulation"? Really? Good thing console developers invented emulation so that PC users had something to make crude copies of using sticks and leaves. Too bad the PC can never aspire to the awesome emulation capabilities of the consoles...

Ugh, Matt Peckham. He's the asshole who wrote the infamous pulled review of NWN2 for 1UP, in which he argued that DnD-based games are antiquated because they arn't like Oblivion.

Aside from his famed stupidity, the list does have some good points. That said, it's all a moot point. People like consoles because they are easy, not because they are superior. Convenience will always win over the masses.

Several people have told me they are staying where they're drinking but you all know how that goes...

I originally had plans to get out to Worcester to see some friends there for New Year's. Now? Not so much.. so I'm going to probably go on over to the girls' next door and have a few beers with them and the other neighbors.

Happy New Year everyone!

Judging by the roads here close to the Great White North I'm guessing there will be more than a few accidents tonight.

Hope everyone has a safe one tonight. Be careful and watch out for the dumbass drunks who have no self control or the common sense to avoid drinking before hopping behind the wheel.

Yes, please be careful.

Working tonight - and just hoping not to get taken out by a drunk ass idiot.

we are fortunate enough to live where snow is something you see only when you want to

I really got into motorcycle touring this year, and so now all I want is for all the snow to be gone. It snowed again last night, and it's supposed to snow again tomorrow. Ack .....

Yes, Happy New Years Eve, lads! Let's hope this coming year - like every other coming year preceding it - is a better one with greater joys and less heartaches than the last.
