PC Braid in Feb March, Mac Edition Possible

The Braid Blog has a status report on the upcoming Windows edition of Braid, apologetically saying February-March, 2009 is now when to expect the release, admitting: "Once we slipped into mid-October and all the big Christmas-season blockbusters started coming out, it just seemed like a bad idea to schedule Braid for that time period, as it seems likely it’d get released and then disappear." The update touched on other platforms, saying depending on Sony's interest, "a PS3 version a little later on remains a possibility," while Mac plans sound more definite: "I am also in talks with someone to do a Mac version (native code). The release date for this would be hopefully not long after the PC version." Thanks Kotaku.

this is exactly the kind of game that should be on Steam. It needs to be put in front of people, and that's what Steam does, plops a cool game in front of you and says buy it.
What's he gonna do, direct download? Make it happen developer man

Have you ever ported a 360 game to PC within a month, by yourself? I didn't think so.

You really think it would take longer than a month to port this game to PC, especially when development was done on the PC? I'm pretty sure he had a PC build up and running long before he received a dev kit from MS. It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft bribed the guy for timed exclusivity or something.

OMG but won't this let the pirates get to it, and then they'll steal it like stealing bread from blind orphans, who maybe have cancer or something, then they'll come to your town and burn an American flag and ring your doorbell at 4am and run away, yes YOU, and then they'll fund terrorism and smoke pot and worship Satan, it'll be the downfall of western society, I'm telling you!

...oh, wait, this isn't one of those threads? Shit, sorry, I had just gotten into the groove of everything at Blue's being the same old arguments about piracy being dragged out and beaten into horse jerky.

So, ehh, yeah, nifty. No Steam means I'm unlikely to bother, as I wasn't blown away with a few short sessions on 360, but I've always though that popular and exclusive was a stupid combo.

Except the game was out on 360 months ago. Porting such a relatively simple game to the PC wouldn't have taken more than a month and would have been out well before the holiday season.

He says right on the blog post that this thread is about that it's more of a holiday rush thing that anything.

Same thing happened with the Aquaria developers, and we all know how that turned out
Yeah, but BCR still isn't available on Steam so I'm not exactly optimistic. I'm not really worried about Braid on Steam, even though it would be great to see, but certainly I want to see Street Fighter IV released.

I liked this game on the 360. It's challenging. I don't get why it's taking so long to come out on PC though.
He says right on the blog post that this thread is about that it's more of a holiday rush thing that anything. He wants the big release schedule that goes into next year to die down a bit before bringing the game out.

I'd love to see this on Steam but apparently a deal could not be reached, which is very disappointing. If it's not on Steam then I'll almost certainly pass on it, as I rarely play Bionic Commando Rearmed after buying it on Gametap. It's just too much hassle.
No, he said that he was having trouble getting in contact with Valve, that's it. And that was months ago, something that could have easily changed by now. Same thing happened with the Aquaria developers, and we all know how that turned out

If you have a 360, I'd not wait for the PC version. A game like this doesn't at all benefit from a mouse or keyboard control, if it's not actually a liability.

I might just pick this up on the PC anyway, especially if there are any extras.
